Project Overview

Most detergents scream "industrial" with their plastic jugs and forgettable labels. I wanted to create something you'd actually want to display on your counter. Drawing inspiration from vintage olive oil tins and retro diner aesthetics, I packaged eco-friendly detergent in charming metal containers with a playful checkerboard pattern and a friendly mascot that makes laundry day feel a little less like a chore.

The name "kirei" (きれい) means "clean" or "beautiful" in Japanese, which perfectly captures what I was going for: cleaning products that are beautiful enough to be part of your home aesthetic, not hidden away in a cabinet.

Why should olive oil get all the cool vintage tin packaging while detergent is stuck in boring plastic? I decided to flip that script. The metal container is sturdy, reusable, and sustainable. The blue and white checkerboard pattern gives major retro diner vibes. And that happy Earth mascot? He's here to remind you that laundry can be gentle on both your clothes and the planet.
