Project Overview

issa is a matcha brand I designed for people who need a mindful pause in their chaotic day. The name means "one tea" in Japanese (一茶), capturing the simple ritual of preparing and savoring a single cup. While most tea brands lean into busy patterns and ornate designs, I stripped everything down to the essentials: a bowl, the tea's name, and calming colors. The tin packaging and minimalist aesthetic make matcha feel less intimidating and more like a daily ritual anyone can embrace.

One tea. One moment of calm.

One tea. One moment of calm.

One tea. One moment of calm.

Matcha preparation can feel precious and complicated, reserved for tea ceremony experts. I wanted to make it approachable. One bowl. One moment. One tea.

The design philosophy mirrors the tea itself: simple, intentional, pure. No clutter, no unnecessary decoration, just what you need to slow down and be present. The bowl silhouette becomes the logo, a visual reminder that this isn't about perfection. It's about pausing.
